I just read an intersting article on Microsoft loosening it's grip on Vista in order to allow developers to create a more user friendly atmosphere.  Though I have zero talent or abilities regarding coding and programming, I find this to be a bit exciting.  It just might make me consider buying Vista after all.  I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter.
Here's the article:

Personally, all I think Microsoft is doing is trying very hard to get more folks to move on from XP to Vista.

This really doesn't add value by MS, though it may make things easier for Stardock developers to make more of their programs Vista friendly.

Well judging by the writers comments on the article:

It would seem it's working. I have Vista Home Premium that came with my laptop and I hate to say that from time to time it gives me headaches.

Exactly. I'm one of the masses that have the "wait and watch" attitude. XP does all I need due to all the little apps that I put in it. Most of my favorite freeware hasn't been updated yet. This announcement is a big step in the right direction.

Here's a good place to start.
